Why the fibre sells

Macro detail of a fine bamboo jersey in oat, showing the loop structure

Customers do not buy bamboo because of a certificate. They buy it because they touched it on your shelf and it felt better than the cotton next to it.

Bamboo viscose has a rounder fibre cross-section than cotton, so it reads as softer at the same weight. It takes up more moisture and releases it faster, which is why it wears cool in an Auckland February and warm in a Dunedin July. That single property is what carries the sleepwear, underwear and babywear ranges through the year.

We are straight about what it is: a regenerated cellulose fibre made from bamboo, not a mechanically processed bast fibre. The lyocell process recovers and reuses its solvent in a closed loop. Certificates go to account holders on request.

From the mill to your stockroom

  • Yarn running off the creel on the knitting floor at our partner mill in Zhejiang

    One mill, since 2017

The same factory group in Zhejiang knits, dyes and makes up every garment we sell. We have been importing direct since 2017and visit at least twice a year.

  • Composition and care label sewn into the side seam of a finished garment

    Checked before it ships

Every production run is measured against spec and wash-tested for shrinkage before it is released to the container.

  • Stacked shipping containers at a freight terminal

    Direct, not through an agent

We import on our own account. No trading house takes a cut in the middle, which is the whole reason the pricing works.

  • Cartons of stock racked and labelled ready for picking

    Held in Auckland

Core lines are stocked in Mount Eden, so a reorder is days away rather than a season away.
